David Tonion is a freelance Sound Designer and Production Engineer. Previously with System Sound, David was involved with many productions beginning with Miss Saigon (Australian Premiere) and then West Side Story (Australia and New Zealand Tour); Sweet Charity, The Boy from Oz (Australian Premiere); Popcorn, Cats (Australia Regional Tent Tour); Miss Saigon (Hong Kong and Singapore Tour, Australia Tour, South Korea); Oliver! (Australia and Singapore Tour); We Will Rock You (Australia and Japan Tour); Guys and Dolls (Melbourne); Billy Elliot The Musical (Melbourne); Mary Poppins (Australia and New Zealand Tour); The Addams Family (Sydney); Once (Melbourne); Kinky Boots (Melbourne); Book of Mormon (Melbourne).

As Associate Sound Designer, Miss Saigon (South Korea Tour); Moonshadow (Melbourne); Strictly Ballroom The Musical (Australia Tour).

Sound Designs/Co-Designs include Defying Gravity (Sydney); The Mousetrap (Australia and New Zealand Tour); A Murder is Announced (Australia Tour); Anything Goes, Kismet, Chess (Green Room Award Recipient); Gypsy, West Side Story (Green Room Award Recipient); Nice Work If You Can Get It, Jerry’s Girls, Funny Girl, Jesus Christ Superstar, Brigadoon, Lazarus (TPC Melbourne).

As Freelance, David was Mix Engineer for The Who’s Tommy (Melbourne), Production Sound Engineer for The Curious Incident of The Dog in the Night-Time (Australia Tour) and is currently the Australian Associate Sound Designer for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (Melbourne).
